The Citizens sealed their first top-flight trophy in 44 years with one of the most dramatic last-day finishes of all time. And now fans of the Sky Blues can commemorate that victory on their wrist.
Entering the final day of the 2011/12 Premier League season level on points with their city rivals, only a win against already-relegated QPR would claim the title for the blue half of Manchester. But after falling into a 1-2 hole at home — and the crosstown Red Devils having sealed their own victory — it seemed as if their wait to be crowned English champions would continue. But a fortuitous QPR red card and two goals scored deep in injury-time flipped the odds back in their favor and set City on the path to becoming the superpower they are today.
The match is displayed overtop of an inlaid diagonal stripe pattern, recalling the coat of arms of Manchester. The reverse features a lunar landscape, paying homage to the favorite song of the club’s supporters, “Blue Moon.”
